I am not a classical music lover, actually not even a listener, but lately I have started appreciating it. With all the stress I have had lately, sometimes instrumental music really hits the spot. I recently came across the artist, David Garrett, and all I can say is “wow!” David Garrett is a violin player from Aachen, Germany, who has been called “the David Beckham of the classical scene.” He is more of a rock star than a classical violinist, and he does sell out both intimate classical and vast rock venues.
David debuted as a classical soloist at the age of four, by teaching himself to play after watching his brother. I am always amazed at how some talents come so natural to others. David had his fist public appearance at just 10 years old, with the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and since he has only grown as an artist. By his early teens, he was established as one of the most exciting and accomplished artists in the business. Critics and audiences have raved about his concerts and recordings, and his chart topping success has welcomed a whole new generation to the classics.

David has said “In so many ways, listening to popular music motivated me in my approach to classical music. It can also work the other way round – that’s why I want to lead people to discover a mixture of different music.” To gain more experience as an artist, David then put a hold on his solo career to go to school at New York’s Juilliard School of Music. At Julliard he decided to play around with his music and try to be different. David wrote and arranged rock, pop and classical pieces for violin and band, His latest CD, releasing 6/2/09, is geared towards creating an appreciation for classical music in young audiences. In concerts, David performs classical sonatas in the beginning and “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica in the second half!
So if you are looking for something different than your usual listening pleasures, and if classical music is not your thing, try to make an exception for David Garrett.

Also, if you just put a generic comment like “I want to Win” then I will have to disqualify you. Sorry! Also, this contest is only open to US.
