In an effort to cut back on shopping costs, I decided to try to use soap to shave with instead of shaving cream. Well that is one mistake I am not going to make again, especially with winter coming and the dry skin on my legs. I even attempted at sharing my husband’s shaving cream, but then I came across Pure Silk from Barbasol.

Pure Silk is not only packaged in adorable pink bottles, but it also works just as good (if not better) than guys shaving cream. It comes in deliciously scents including Raspberry Mist, Melon Splash, Peaches & Cream, Coconut & Oat Flour, Plumeria, and Citrus Zest. Full of all-natural ingredients like aloe, Pure Silk also leaves your legs smooth and free of irritation.

On the Pure Silk website, you can even read about why shaving with Pure Silk is the best. Soap and water will get the job done, but dry out your skin and Gels don’t foam right away so you end up wasting a lot. Creams are ideal because they instantly form a rich, thick moisturizing lather that also requires you to use less and therefore make the bottle last longer! Pure Silk shave cream even includes softeners that soothe dry skin and help prevent bumps, rashes and ingrown hairs. I also learned that by shaving on a regular basis (so yes even in the winter) with Pure SIlk will help form a microscopic layer of calloused skin, which helps prevent irritation from shaving. (This calloused layer will also help keep away those unsightly red bumps that can appear when skin becomes irritated after a prolonged period without shaving.)

Overall, I really enjoy using Pure Silk, which I am currently using the scent Plumeria. It definitely has helped my normally itchy, dry legs and even my husband has noticed that my legs seem nicer. I also have noticed what Pure Silk is referring to when they talk about the benefit of using a cream instead of a gel. Without doubt, I am using less shave cream each time and I even noticed that my razors are lasting longer. I also love the price of Pure Silk as it retails for around $1.79 and a bottle lasts me over a month! You can also purchase a travel size for about a dollar!
