"What do I smell like?"

Submitted by on November 13, 2009 – 12:33 AMNo Comment

I belong to Twitter Moms Network which is basically a mom group that hosts a forum. Well right now they are running a contest by asking: “If you could define yourself with a scent, what scent would represent you and why?”

So after a few days of thought, I still can’t really define myself as one scent but I will try. I guess I would be the scent of an onion. Yes I said onion! I am not going to fluff myself and say fresh laundry, vanilla, or something else wonderful smelling.

Okay so here is why I say an onion smell represents me. Well I am a very opinionated and strong person, like the strong smell of an onion. Just like an onion, I also don’t work well with everything. By that I mean, since I am opinionated I don’t necessarily get along with everyone and there are many situations I just avoid also. Although the people and situations I do work with, I do it well. So like you know how onions are awesome in chili (even if you don’t agree just go with me on this one please) well I am awesome with my family, friends, and other direct situations.

This question also reminds me of when I was an auditor for a bank. It was just me and my partner and we made a great team. She was nice and would try to be patient and work with the bank associates while I was more direct and told them what they were doing wrong right off the bat. Since everyone is different, I know not anyone can relate to my approach but I think if you are tough in the beginning it makes it easier than to solve the problem rather than ‘dancing around the problem.’

I must say though that since becoming a mom, I have gained way more patience and compassion than I ever thought possible, so maybe one day I will be able to relate myself to a beautiful smelling flower, or then again maybe not!
