Garage Doors

One of the many things on our list to improve in our new house is our garage door.  It works don’t get me wrong, but the home inspector said it needed basically a tune up and that it would need to be replaced in the next few years.  It is just a basic white two car garage door, but it sags a little on the one side and its loud.  I actually try not to open and close it if I don’t have to because of the loud noise and I don’t like to open and close it constantly.  Although safety wise I don’t like it to be open because our garage contents are exposed (not that we have anything great in there) and there is a door connecting the garage to our house.  So if I am alone, I feel safer closing it, I just have a feeling one day it is not going to open or it is going t come crashing down!

Now I think I have just always taken our garage doors for granted, but they are expensive!  Not only do you buy the door but you also have to get the kit and then I am sure there are more expenses.  At least for us, it is never just one thing, but usually three or four things we need to buy, and that is after we returned and exchanged something!  Yes, we basically live at our home improvement store!  So for now I think we will just get it oiled or whatever as a time being fix and down the line when we have extra money (yeah right) we will replace the whole door and mechanism.

Anyone have any garage door suggestions or ideas?  How long do they normally last or what is good to buy?  Maintenance?

A new automatic garage door can not only make your home look great, it also offers you the benefit of opening your garage door from the comfort and security of your car.

Roller Doors are steel garage doors that open vertically and roll up into a bundle above the door opening. Roller doors are suitable where a cost effective and compact garage door is required.

The tilt door is a one-piece overhead garage door that uses a spring balance hinge that opens out and up. As the tilt door is a one-piece design it offers you the versatility of choosing from a wider range of materials to suit the look of your home. These include steel, timber, Perspex, polycarbonate plastics and many more in a wide range of colours.
