To camp or not to camp?

Submitted by on May 18, 2010 – 7:11 PM3 Comments

Camping is not at all my ideal vacation or even something I would want to do for a weekend getaway.  The thought of sleeping outside, on the ground, with bugs and whatever else is out there, is just not appealing to me in the least. My husband on the other hand loves camping, thanks to his years in the boy scouts.

He raves about how in the boy scouts they would hike, raft, cook their own food and do all the other typical camping activities.  I think it was definitely a great experience for him, and I think I will let him take our boys camping as a way for them to bond.  Who knows maybe my boys with even join the boy scouts and my husband can tag along that way.  What better way for boys to bond with their father than in the outdoors living the land!  I think my husband would especially like it because my boys are both mama’s boys and some alone time with my husband might be a great way to get them their needed daddy time!  I don’t think though I would let them go until they were at least 7-8 years old, so I think we have some time!

One part of camping gear that I don’t mind are Camping tents.  I think one would be fun for the backyard to play in and maybe camp out occasionally, since we are seconds away from real food and indoor plumbing!  I have always been fascinated by those camping tents that are big enough for a whole family and have separate rooms, I might even consider camping if we had a nice tent and other camping gear.  I suppose an air bed would be nice too but I know real campers would laugh at me for that!
