17 weeks and Counting

Submitted by on February 12, 2011 – 6:51 AM5 Comments

So this week marked my second doctor’s appointment for my pregnancy.  I am 17 weeks (read my previous post to see why this was only my 2nd appointment).  It should have been a quick one where the doctor just checked the baby’s heartbeat with a fetal doppler but this baby was not cooperating, of course!  So the doctor didn’t worry me, not that I could worry because I had my 2 year old with who I was worried who pull or touch something he shouldn’t!  The doctor decided to do an ultrasound just to make sure the baby was okay.  Luckily everything was all good, the baby was just not cooperating!  I didn’t really think about it until I got home but I am surprised I wasn’t more worried in those few minutes while she searched for the heartbeat and then waited for the ultrasound machine to warm up.  I don’t go back for a month so in the meantime I will be checking my baby’s heartbeat at home with a Baby Beat Fetal Doppler!  (review to come…)

Not hearing the babies heartbeat can be worrisome. At one of my early appts the dr couldn’t hear it but it was only because it was still early.

And then at an ultrasound baby wasn’t cooperating either and dr couldn’t get a good luck at the heart.

It’s hard to wait a whole month before your next visit, but just take good care of yourself in the meantime =)

I agree, not hearing something that is supposed to be there is definitely worrisome, but I’m glad that everything was good and that you and the baby are both healthy :)
