Yes I am Getting My Hair Done….Again

Submitted by on March 22, 2011 – 6:43 AMOne Comment

So once every 3-4 months I sit in a chair for about 3 hours and get my hair done.  It is the only thing I do for myself, but yet its not really for myself.  I mean yes getting my hair down makes me feel great and allows me more free time getting ready since I usually cut it pretty short, but still I would rather be lounging on my couch for 3 hours (and that is free!)  I suppose it is somewhat relaxing because 1)  I have a babysitter for the kids 2)  I can listen to gossip and catch up with my hairdresser (who is also my husband’s cousin) and 3) since it takes so long to process my dark hair with the highlights, I can usually get a few chapters in a book in!  Actually, as I write this post, I am sitting in a chair with the dryer on my hair, just waiting for the blond to come through.

I know it is expensive too so I do try to go as long as I can to get it down, but I justify it since I don’t do much of anything else for me.  I don’t get manicures or pedicures, buy a lot of new clothes, or really indulge myself in any other way.  Yes I get my hair done and it costs over $100 each time, but it makes me happy, makes my husband happy and therefore my kids are also happy!

So what are some indulgences you give into?

I’m horrible about spending money on myself. I’ve even gone to having my friend do my hair in her bathroom. But I’m learning what a difference it makes in my attitude when I make the effort so I think I’m going to start trying to do that as our budget allows. Right now I desperately need to get my no chip manicure redone but the $$ just isn’t there this week.
