When we bought our house two years ago they had luckily had a carpet cleaning service come in before we moved in.  I don’t remember us including that in the contract but I am so glad they did because there was seven guys renting this house and it definitely needed a good cleaning.  I can still picture how clean the carpeting looked and how you could actually see the carpet cleaning lines still.

Since then we have borrowed a neighbor’s carpet cleaners machine to do a quick once over in a few areas.  We also have a spot carpet cleaner that I love and with my two active boys (and clumsy husband) I use regularly.  The other day I was looking at our light beige carpeting and I can definitely see that we need a good cleaning.  I was actually thinking we should do a good household carpeting cleaning once a year.  I always thought it was so expensive but I have seen some services that do it relatively cheap or we could rent one of those commercial machines from the grocery store!  That might be the way to go since we could also do a quick furniture cleaning.  I was also considering buying a nice upright carpet cleaner but I am not sure that’s in our budget right now since it would set us back a few hundred dollars.
