Educational Insights: Design & Drill Review (& #Giveaway Ends 11/2)

ABOUT:

Educational Insights is a manufacturer of kids products that have an educational value to them. Their products include classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. All the products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that learning needs to be fun to keep kids engaged.

MY THOUGHTS:

My boys love the Design & Drill Take Along Toolkit.  They can spend hours just drilling and un-drilling. This toolkit is great because it keeps them busy and they have so much fun with it!  I actually might need to pick up an extra drill since they could really both use it at the same time!

Construction creativity to go! Take the fun of Design & Drill® anywhere! This portable, compact version of our popular activity set features built–in storage for all pieces, plus an electronic handheld screwdriver.

  • Helps children explore counting, colors and shapes while building fine motor and creativity skills
  • Keeps little hands engaged and learning on trips across town or across the country
  • Sturdy plastic components wipe clean
  • Includes 60 regular bolts (2″H) in 5 vibrant colors, 3 bits, electronic screwdriver, Activity Guide with 10 patterns, and activity board that doubles as a carrying case
  • Electronic screwdriver requires 3 AA batteries, not included
  • Carrying case measures approximately 9.25″L x 7.5″H
  • Grades PreK+

Everything is included (except the 3 AAA batteries required) and everything fits nicely inside.  There are tons of bolts and three different bits, as well as an activity guide with 10 designs and of course the electronic screwdriver.  The carrying case is the activity board in which you drill into.  Since my boys are tool fanatics they love practicing on the different bolts and designs.

As far as educational toy goes, I would say it is.  I have my boys count out the bits, colors, and listening to directions as we work on the different design ideas.  It is also good for practicing holding the screwdriver steady and drilling and removing the bolts.  They also have to make sure they are using the right bit for the different bolts.

Overall, the Design & Drill Toolkit is perfect for fun at home as well as on-the-go.  It keeps kids busy and there is nothing I would change about it!

BUY IT: The Design & Drill® Take-Along Toolkit can be purchased for $29.99 from Educational Insights or check out the Store Locator for a store that carries Educational Insights products near you!
