AllerMates {Cool Allergy Awareness Products} Review

ABOUT:

AllerMates is a new line of bright, fun and character-driven wristbands, dog tags and lunch boxes for kids with allergies.  They are based on 14 orginal charcters that represent the most common allergies: peanut, nut, gluten/wheat, milk, egg, shellfish, penicillin, insect sting, latex, pollen, fish, soy, sesame and cat.  AllerMates products are hypo-allergenic, nickel and latex free and have passed rigorous safety standards and testing.  The wristbands are also adjustable and fit most children.

MY THOUGHTS:

My 4 year old has a peanut allergy and while he knows he does, he is also just a 4 year old.  I worry when he goes to friends houses that a parent will give him something with peanuts in it not knowing.  An AllerMates peanut allergy bracelet is a perfect reminder for both him and others and it is kid-friendly.  My son does not mind wearing the bracelet, actually he looks for it everyday now like someone would a watch.  The bracelet is unisex and adjustable so it will fit him as he grows.  I will say though with some playing the snaps are not that strong and I do worry it will fall off, maybe a re-reinforcement strap or something (like a watch has) would be nice to have.  I do like though that there are snaps which makes it easy for kids to put on and off.  For the price of less than $10 it is a perfect reminder for kids and others.
