MY THOUGHTS:
My boys are only 3 and 5 but they are already showing interest in stars and the sky. I never thought to get a telescope for them at such a young age, but we have tried other GeoSafari products and loved them so I figured we’d give this one a try.
With this durable, lightweight telescope, young scientists can explore the natural wonders of the earth, from birds to animals, or the craters of the moon and beyond. The 50mm achromatic objective lens, all-glass optics, and rack and pinion focusing deliver clear, up-close images at magnifications from 20x to 80x. Easy-to-use refractor design and table-top tripod make it perfect for backyard exploring and on-the-go discovery. Comes with two interchangeable eyepieces and an image erector for viewing terrestrial subjects. Grades 3 and up.
The GeoSafari Vega 360 Telescope is a perfect telescope for beginners and at the price of less than $50 it is great value. I can’t say how great this telescope is compared to other telescopes as I have nothing to compare it to, but to me it works pretty good!
Setting it up was pretty easy right out of the box and within about ten minutes it was up and running. It requires no batteries or anything special, just attach the lens you’d like and start gazing. The height of the telescope is meant for a table-top or you could use it without the stand. It does take some playing around to get the right focus and lens you want to use, but once you get used to it you’ll know. For a first telescope for us I really like this one and it does what we need it to!
BUY IT: The GeoSafari® Vega 360 Telescope can be purchased for $49.99 from Educational Insights or check out the Store Locator for a store that carries Educational Insights products near you!
WIN IT: (1) US winner will receive the GeoSafari® Vega 360 Telescope ($50 value)
