Okay so I am a terrible tomato cutter because I always seem to get mushy and slimy diced tomatoes. Well this is a simple trick to cut them and de-slime them!
Cut tomato in half
Use your fingers and scoop out the slime into the sink or garbage!
Then you can let dry on paper towel to really dry it out so its not mushy or dice it up and get cooking!

Slime? Really? The seeds & “slime” add a whole lot of flavor to the tomato. The trick is to cut the tomato with a finely serrated edge knife & unless you have health issues such as diverticulitis, eat the seeds & “slime” as well. Luckily I live in New Jersey where we are known to be able to grow the BEST tomatoes, esp. Beefsteaks, & if you prefer a more acidy taste, you simply throw some evergreen needles into the soil. I’m baffled about this whole “slime” business as making salsa or gazpacho without it would make for it being super bland!
Here in Chicago with our crazy weather our tomatoes are hit or miss. When I cut this I was making taco salad (dip) and the “slime” makes it liquidity and runny. I agree sometimes its good (salsa) but I prefer firmer tomatoes and the slime usually has to go
