I’m a Chicago Cutlery Mom Knife Ambassador!

My extent of knife knowledge is that I know the difference between a butter knife and a steak knife. That’s it. I never really thought how a nicer knives could make a difference in cooking until I became a Chicago Cutlery Ambassador. I received a set of knives to check out over the next month and I hope to appreciate cooking more. Right now, I dread it. I make my husband cut up everything for me as I just don’t have patience with our dull knives. It’s funny how I never realized dull knives were the problem, I thought it was the norm.

My other issue with knives is I don’t know which type of knife is appropriate for cutting different foods. Like I said earlier, I know the difference between a butter knife and a steak knife but thats it. I received three knives from Chicago Cutlery to review: Chef, Santoku, and a Parer knife.

My favorite features so far is the included plastic holder:

I honestly have no idea what specifically each are for. I mean I am assuming they each serve a purpose but I don’t know what that is. I just think little knives are for small foods and big knives are for big and thick foods! I would really like to learn to be more knife educated as well as cooking with them! These knives are so nice that I want to use them properly.

So for a few weeks now I have been using three new knives from Chicago Cutlery (probably on the wrong foods) and I can’t wait to keep trying them out with new recipes. I have cut bread, onions, tomatoes and potatoes so far.  I am far from being a chef but I’d be happy with at least knowing (and enjoying a little bit) how to prepare some new basic meals. So in a few weeks I will share again what I think of using my new knives and how I compare them to my current knives.
