DVD Review: “Thomas & Friends: Blue Mountain Mystery the Movie”

Thomas & Friends: Blue Mountain Mystery the Movie

Released: September 18, 2012

Studio: LYONS / HIT ENT.

Running Time:  61 minutes

Thomas the Train is a character that never disappoints and his new movie ”Thomas & Friends: Blue Mountain Mystery the Movie” is a hit with my boys (4 and 5.)

My boys love Thomas movies and this one is of course their new favorite! With new characters (train, crane and more) it makes for new fun and excitement for kids. My boys love seeing the new characters, which of course then they want to own! “Blue Mountain Mystery” is a simple mystery for kids, which my 5 year old is totally into right now. He is so curious and loves to try to figure things out. The dialogue is simple and easy enough for young kids to understand, especially compared to the usual language of weird sayings they use. This one has some action, but nothing really inappropriate (although it may be scary in some scenes but my boys weren’t afraid.) This movie comes after “Day of the Diesels” (I think) and I actually like this one a lot more. I feel like the Thomas movies have improved and my boys have watched this one a million times already!

When trouble strikes at the Blue Mountain Quarry, Thomas is sent to help his Narrow Gauge engine friends. He catches a glimpse of a small engine trying to hide, yet no one will provide any clues to the engine’s identity. Thomas is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery but discovering the truth is harder than he imagined! Will Thomas be able to save his new friend? Or will the mysterious engine be sent away from Sodor forever? Join Thomas and his friends for their most mysterious adventure yet in a movie the whole family will love!
