Okay so yes we have a dishwasher, but I admit I tend to wash more dishes than I do load them into the dishwasher. I just tend to wash the dishes because so many are either caked on with food, not-dishwasher safe or they are sippy cups that I don’t have too many of. My left side of my sink is always full of clean dishes that I admit don’t get put away like they should. I tend to just grab clean dishes out of there rather than putting them away. I also have the problem where the dishes don’t dry out but rather water stays on and it gets slimy. Yes, slimy. Not sure exactly what is up with the slime but it gets like that when I don’t put the dishes away right away. I have tried paper towels on the counter but that is a wasteful and I have tried washclothes on the counter but that is not the most hygienic or pretty.
Original Dish Drying Mat
The Original Dish Drying Mat is the new solution to the age old tradition of placing dish towels on the counter when hand washing pots, pans, dishes, and glassware. The unique, laminated design combines a thin layer of foam between two layers of high-quality, super-absorbent microfiber. 16″ X 18″
- Superior absorbency; holds 4 times its weight in water
- Cushions delicate dishes and stemware
- Machine washable and highly durable
- Folds and stores easily
- Protects your counter top from scratches and scuffs.
- Available in additional sizes: XL – 18″ x 24″
Overall, the Original Dish Drying Mat has become a great addition to my kitchen. I use it almost daily and it is so much nicer than just throwing my dishes in the left side plastic sink rack to dry. My items dry faster and I am more inclined to put the dishes away! I love the convenience of pulling this out or folding it up to put it away. When I need to it machine washes easily and comes out just fine. I love that I am no longer laying the dish towels on the counter but rather a nice looking mat. It is especially nice when I have a party or holiday, as it looks a lot nicer on my counter when I’m cleaning up.

I put most everything in the dishwasher, but I was all my pots and pans by hand, and any thinner plastic that I’m not sure could survive the heat of the dishwasher! I currently just put a towel down under my pans to air dry. I’d love this!

I do all my dishes by hand! I was so excited when we got a new house because it had a dishwasher (it would be the first time in my life I had one). Later we found out it was broken and since we are renovating it is on the bottom of our wish list!
