Dino Dan: Twas a Dinosaur

Released: September 25, 2012

Studio: NCircle

My boys love Dino Dan but we always seem to miss it when its on tv, so having this DVD was a ig hit for them. A Christmas Dino Dan was also the perfect DVD to start off our holiday spirit. The DVD features classic Dino Dan but with a touch of Christmas. My boys are learning all about the different dinosaurs that Dino Dan “sees” and it teaches them about paleontology in a fun way. I would say for any dinosaur fan this is a great DVD to own, and I am sure we will be watching it way past Christmas too.

The app is something too that is a great bonus and sounds so fun. We haven’t had the chance to try it yet but after reading about it and seeing the screenshots I know this is something I will have to download and show my boys. Oh and yes the app is free!

Follow the adventures of paleontologist-in-training Dan Henderson as he imagines dinosaurs into the real world! Join Dan as he learns what might have caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, tracks down a Euoplocephalus and gives the poem “The Night Before Christmas” a dinosaur spin. Dan uses the scientific method to gather clues and solve mysteries. ‘Twas a Dinosaur is filled with five action-packed adventures full of discovery!

This DVD has an extra-special surprise in store for fans young and old.  The DVD marks the premiere of an exciting new augmented reality app for Apple iOS devices, by which a mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex comes vividly to life in 3D – complete with stomping and roaring sound effects.

How the app works:

Purchase the “Dino Dan – ‘Twas A Dinosaur” DVD and download the free Dino Dan: Dino Player augmented reality app (available on Apple iTunes).  Once loaded, the app will present a menu displaying the fearsome T-Rex.  Hit the ‘Start’ button to begin seeing through the iOS device’s camera.  Point the camera to the back of the “Dino Dan – ‘Twas A Dinosaur” DVD cover (which also acts as the AR marker) and watch the mighty T-Rex emerge.  Click anywhere on the screen to make the T-Rex roar!
