I am sad to admit it but I have never played Jenga before. It’s not that I don’t like the game, I just never had the chance to play it and I feel like I am the only one. Since we are trying to incorporate family game night into our routine, I have been looking for games that would appeal to both kids and adults. I mean there is only so much Candyland or Elefun games I can play! Jenga is a game though that really is perfect for all ages, I’d say starting at 4 years old. What would make Jenga even more appealing is to have it blow up, right?
Stack it and “explode” it with this awesome Jenga Boom Game. Just like in the classic Jenga game, you’ll need a delicate touch to pull blocks out of the stack without knocking it down. But in Jenga Boom, you have to move fast, because you start the detonator before each turn – and you have to get your block out before your time runs out and the stack “explodes.”
My boys (4 and 6 years old) were attracted to the game as soon as they saw the box. The first thing I noticed about the game, no batteries! The game is simple, stack the blocks, set the detonator, and take turns moving the blocks. Its is simple at first then it gets super challenging and it teaches decision making. I used the game to teach my boys consequences and problem solving. We had a blast (literally) sitting around playing this game. You can of course play without the detonator if you want, but it is definitely more challenging and fast paced if you do use it. Setting up the game, we didn’t have any problems and the only suggestion I would make is maybe a bag to hold all the pieces or a sturdier box. Our box was kinda flimsy so I just put all the pieces in a Ziploc bag.
Overall though this is a great family game or use it as an adult (drinking) game even!
