Personalized Fruit Roll Ups Not So Great…..

So I received my Personalized Fruit Roll Ups finally on Friday and boy was I disappointed. I hope it was just my luck and my fruit roll up batch that was the problem because I just finished up a giveaway for one of my readers. Hopefully jceko77’s comes out perfect and she will come back and comment on how they were!

Here is what happened: I ordered my Roll Ups on December 18th and I received an email the same day saying they were approved. My delivery date was December 29th. Then on January 5th I received an email saying they would ship soon via UPS as they just finished printing. When I received that email I immediately called the 800 number and was told by a General Mills representative that they were not in the UPS tracking log yet so she couldn’t help. I asked for a supervisor and was told someone would get back to me in 2 days. I received a call from a higher up General Mills rep and she told me that they should arrive on the 9th and she has no idea what took so long. I said that the website says 15 days is the delivery time and she blamed it on the holidays. I explained that it was not a delivery problem so it could not have been affected by the holiday mail. I said that they were not even finished printing at the factory until January 5th! She was basically no help and offered nothing. Now yes I did get these for free as I was asked to review them but still I would have liked to give General Mills another chance.

So then on Friday when I finally received them I was severely disappointed to! I waited all day to open them since they were cold from the UPS truck and I knew they would be fragile and brittle so I let them warm up. When I finally did open them they were still hard to peel open without it stretching and cracking. Also, it was supposed to show a picture of each of my sons and you can’t even make out the one picture. So far we have opened 4/30 and all were pretty bad and unclear. They also turned my fingers black from the ink where the photos were and my sister said it tasted funny when she licked the ink parts. Now as far as taste goes, they were strawberry flavored and I think they tasted great and normal. I have included some pics to show you my results. I recommend if you are going to do this then just use their themes and messages, don’t use pictures.

If you have personalized Fruit Roll Ups before and received them please leave me your comments and let me know how they turned out. I think this is such a great idea and reasonably priced and would love to do this again for birthdays and other celebrations, but I need to know that mine was a fluke. I am trying to give General Mills the benefit of the doubt that they really are a great product.

(This is what they looked like and how they came. Sorry I could not get a better picture.)
