EcoStore: "No Nasty Chemicals!" Review & Giveaway! (Ends 2/23)

With all the chemicals out there it is hard to find a safe product for your child and to use around your child. I was fortunate to receive a few products from EcoStore USA and I have fallen in love! Now I am all about bargains and buying whatever is on sale, but EcoStore products are really reasonably priced and excellent quality products. Their products range from baby to hair to household to pets, so there is definitely a product for everyday chores and tasks.

EcoStore was founded about 15 years ago by Melanie and Malcolm Rands from their home in an eco village in New Zealand. What is an eco village? It is a farm community where families commit to organic growing and healthy living. Each household then was responsible for their own waste water, which brought out the problems of using supermarket cleaning products since they were made of cheap, petroleum-based, synthetic ingredients.

So in order to protect the waterways of their village, Malcolm Rands along with some scientists help, began eliminating toxic chemicals from their products. Originally these products were a hit with organic gardeners and “Greenies,” but soon their products spread to parents of children with allergies and eczema, reporting that their skin was clearing up and respiratory issues were healing. Now I am not saying that these products are miracle workers, but as mom of a child with severe eczema I love their baby products and laundry soap.

So thru Malcolm’s vision, EcoStore products were born in New Zealand and are now making their way her to Meijer stores. The entire line is composed of more than 100 products, which are all meeting the most stringent environment and sustainability standards. They are also all super concentrated, but still safe, so even though it seems expensive for a smaller bottle you actually get a lot of uses out of it since you only need to use a little. Basically rather than using a whole cup of soap or detergent you only need a tablespoon. EcoStore does all its own research and development in order to address individual health concerns in an eco-friendly development. So 17 years after creating their products, EcoStore is now a well-known brand at over 600 retail outlets throughout New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom and will soon be coming here to the US! Finally, EcoStore is you guessed it: Green! Being green means they are organic, non-toxic and avoid harmful chemicals, which will in turn keep your family healthy and happy!

So now that I have told you about the EcoStore Company, let me get on to my review of their products! Keep in mind that I am only reviewing 3 out of over 100 products!

Sleepytime Bath: First off this product smells wonderful, as it is an aromatherapy blend of Lavender and Geranium. It is a little overwhelming at first so I recommend let it sit in the water for a few minutes before you bring the baby in. I also have a very small bathroom and probably used too much! You only need one capful of this product, which comes in a 6.8 fl. oz. bottle and retails for $10. This is definitely my favorite product as it immediately calmed my son down and let his body and my arms smelling so good! It was also very gentle and soothing on his eczema and so far it seems to be getting better. Like I said it is hard to find products to use that are safe for your baby, but this bath blend is definitely a keeper!

Pure Oxygen Whitener: This product is what I used in place of bleach for my baby’s clothes and I loved the smell of this one also. The smell is a blend of citrus oil, coconut, and other plant-based ingredients, so no chemical strong bleach smell! It was refreshing to clean my son’s clothes in this powder as it is free of harsh chemicals and I did not have to worry about skin irritations. This bottle is also super concentrated so you use only a tablespoon (or more if needed) per load. It comes in a 35.3 ounce size and retails for $12. Overall, I feel this is an excellent substitute for moms who don’t want to use bleach on their children’s clothes or you can even use it on your own clothes if you want!

Laundry Liquid: This product is also a great substitute for regular laundry soap that can be too strong and irritating on your children. Made with 100% Certified Organic Eucalyptus oil and plant-based ingredients, I felt completely confident when I washed my son’s clothes. As their website pointed out and I never thought about it, “Conventional liquids often leave a chemical residue on bedding, clothes and even skin.” That statement makes complete sense and since my 7 month old puts everything in mouth, especially his clothes, I feel better knowing that he is not eating chemicals. I love that this soap is also super concentrated and you only need a tablespoon or two or the liquid. It comes in a 33.8 fl. oz. bottle for $9.50.

With everything else we have to worry about as a parent why should chemicals be one of them. With EcoStore’s product line you don’t have to worry about those harsh chemicals and residues and you can feel better knowing that you are not only using earth-friendly ingredients but you are using products derived from the earth! Now remember I only reviewed 3 of their products and on their website there are so many to choose from and there is a replacement for practically every product you normally use. So next time you are at a Meijer store check out their product line that will be coming out Spring 2009 and hopefully these wonderful New Zealand products will make there way to more stores. Until then you can always purchase the EcoStore products on their website and you can also read more about them and check out their blog too!

So since you are probably now super excited to try out an Eco Store product, I have a Giveaway to get you started!
