"The Noticer" by Andy Andrews – Book Review

So I am not typically a Self-Help/Personal Growth book reader, but these days I am open to trying anything. Times are tough and I know everyone has problems, and I am so glad I was given the opportunity to review the book “The Noticer” by Andy Andrews. It is a truly amazing book and I learned so much from it.

So first off, let me tell you a little bit about the author. Andy Andrews was once homeless, lost, and living under a pier at the beach. He definitely knows what it is like to hit rock-bottom, tread water, and survive. Now he is a bestselling author, “The Traveler’s Gift,” and he is an in-demand speaker for U.S. presidents, top corporations, celebrities, and the U.S. military.

Now he has come out with the book “The Noticer” which is a remarkable true story of how sometimes with a little perspective things can look and be so much better. The book is just covers so much that I was impressed that I was able to relate to it and learn. Throughout the book, an old man named “Jones” who is a drifter, drifts his way in and out of people’s lives helping them with their problems. Jones seems to know how to fix everything and his advice is so interesting. He just introduces himself to strangers and seems to know their problems and offers them a different perspective. Then the stranger realizes how to fix their problem and get past it.

I would have to say my favorite part is when he helps a married couple who is about to get divorced. He goes through how people fit in one of four different types and how to be with a person from those types. I learned so much about my husband and I that now I feel we can have a much better relationship. “The Noticer” does not cover only marriage advice, but also old age, lost dreams, failing business, depression, and hopelessness.

Now I have not yet read Andy Andrew’s best-seller “The Traveler’s Gift” but it is definitely next on my list. Also, if you don’t normally this genre, make an exception for “The Noticer.” It is a quick book and I promise you that you will learn something about yourself and your life and you will be amazed at how just a change of perspective can really make a difference.

In conjunction with “The Noticer” an awesome movement has began called “The Noticer Project.” Since April 7th, people have “noticed” the five most influential people in their lives, a core message from “The Noticer.” To notice these people it can be as easy as sending a letter or email or as public as posting to a blog or Facebook. It is meant to acknowledge that person for no special reason other than to show you care and appreciate them.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson Publishers for allowing me this opportunity to review this book!
