"Face of Betrayl" by Lis Wiehl Book Review

I love mystery novels, especially ones that have strong female leads. Books by Patricia Cornwell and James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club books now have some competition by author Lis Wiehl. As a Fox News legal correspondent and former Federal Prosecutor, Lisa Wiehl has put her expertise in law, politics, and criminal investigation in good use.

Lis Wiehl, with assistance form April Henry, has introduced the book “Face of Betrayal: A Triple Threat Novel.” The book revolves around three women that call themselves “The Triple Threat”: A Federal Prosecutor, FBI Special Agent, and a Reporter. You get to read about each woman’s personal lives and then see how well they work together to solve cases.

The main plot of this book is when a 17 year old girl who interns as a Senate Page, goes missing. As Cassidy Shaw, reporter, breaks the story, the Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce and FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges begin their jobs on the case. It is interesting to see what role each woman plays and gives insight into a case from start to finish. The missing girl wrote a blog about her Senate days, and then we discover that she may have had a relationship with an older man, possibly a U.S. Senator. So after dealing with betrayed faces and growing suspects, the Triple Threat works to solve what happened to Katie Converse.

As I read the book I was constantly wanting more and loved how nicely the book flowed. Another favorite feature that I love is that the chapters are very short and if your like me and like to finish a chapter, then you can! It is hard though to stop and I kept telling myself “Just one more chapter.” The book was written very well and definitely left me wanting to read more from Lis Wiehl. And guess what in April 2010, her next book entitled “Hand of Fate” featuring of course The Triple Threat club will be released.
