Book Review: "Chin and the Magic Stones" by L.J. Salazar

Summer reading is one of my favorite pastimes. I say pastimes because now my summers are full of chasing my two little guys, but when I can read I sneak in pages here and there. My sons are 12 months and 28 months and currently they are not big into reading or books, but I can’t wait for the day when they start enjoying books and trips to the library.

One book I just read about is a perfect book to get kids between the ages of 7-11 years old reading. The book “Chin and the Magic Stones” is a book full of adventure and perfect for readers who are beginning to read fantasy genre books. Full of riddles, magic, and positive concepts, this book teaches children to trust themselves, visualize positive outcomes, and keep a positive attitude.

Another interesting feature of this book is that its main character is a 10-year-old boy who gets super powers. Chin has to overcome his fears and insecurities and believe in himself. I like that it is a series book too because there is nothing worse than finishing a book and wanting more! This book would make a perfect “Summer Reading” book for any child, whether you read it to them or they read it themselves!
