This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Wheat Food Council. All opinions are 100% mine.
Wheat Works is an awesome website brought to you by the Wheat Foods Councilthat will donate two pounds of flour, up to 90,000 pounds to Operation Homefront. With all the tragedy and economic crisis’s people around the world are suffering from, every little bit helps. Operation Homefront is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to needy U.S. troops and their families.
How Wheat Worksis an interactive and online programs that teaches a farm-to-fork education on wheat, in order to explain its nutritional value. Participants of all ages virtually grow, harvest and mill their own kernels to create their desired wheat food. There are four phases participants encounter – growth, harvest, milling/baking and the grocer’s aisle. Each stage takes a few minutes to complete while the entire process spans the course of four days. It actually reminds me of Farmville from Facebook, but this website actually gives back!
Through each phase, participants can also learn by preparing wheat-based recipes, exploring wheat grown in their area through the state wheat commission member sites and you can view harvest videos from “America’s Heartland.” It is a neat website that I especially like because it is interactive and it makes me feel like some of my online time is being done for a good cause.
