So we just got back from Disney and I thought it was only fitting to answer this Twitter Moms question “What are 10 tips to create a fun, distraction-free family vacation?” Now granted my sons are only 3 years old and 18 months old, but I still have some ideas on a family vacation full of fun!
1. Limit the electronics – don’t get caught up checking emails and websites.
2. Bring games – travel games to play in the car or down time in the hotel.
3. Have a basic itinerary that has something for everyone.
4. Take lots of pictures – actually pass the camera around and let everyone take some pics!
5. Share stories of past vacations either with them or before you had kids.
6. Try to have vacations in different spots so everyone gets to pick a place.
7. Have spontaneous “day-vacations“ where you visit a museum, aquarium, or something similar.
8. Have a “stay-cation” where you veg out as a family!
9. Limit taking friends with, try to keep it as a family outing. I remember when I was younger, I always begged for a friend to come with on vacation and now I understand why my mom always said no!
10. Try to keep your vacation within your budget, but don’t forget to splurge on souvenirs, character meals, or other “vacation” items.
