Finding Money to Invest With…

I am very good at managing our family budget and getting all of our bills paid on time, but I am terrible at anything regarding stocks, 401ks, or investments.  I just don’t understand them.  My husband is good in that department and has definitely learned a lot since transferring to the investments side of the company he works for – he is a computer programmer so sees everything from behind the scenes.  He is always telling me how he changed one thing to another and made X amount of money which was good because the stock then started going down.  It is basically another foreign language to me!

He has even started talking about online stock trading, but right now we are tight because of our new house.  We knew we would be since this house leaves us no wiggle room, but we knew we would grow into it financially and my husband has been fortunate to continue with his great job.  For now he can dream and play around with his 401k stocks, but I know in the future it is something he hopes we have enough money to invest with.  I know what a joke, I don’t think we will ever have enough money to invest, since we have two growing boys!  We also have a bigger house than we are used to and with big houses (or any houses for that matter) come unknown expenses and higher utility bills.  For example, my dad noticed our roof is going, but luckily he is a roofer and can fix it for only a few hundred dollars.  We have been very fortunate with family help around the house, not financially but I would rather have the help around the house and spending time with them.  I hope one day to be able to help our families, but with our two wild children, we don’t have a lot of free time nor would we be any help since we would have to bring the kids with!
