Buying a Tent

I know I have written about this before, but it seems like all the sports stores sales ads are full of Camping tents so camping has been on my mind.  The tents in the ads look awesome and cannot even believe how fancy they are.  I mean when I think of tents I think of people struggling with four poles and a piece of vinyl.  Now the tents are huge, even with separate rooms, and some even pop up themselves but maybe you just need a canvas tent small.

I think the first thing to consider when buying a tent is how many people will be sleeping inside, comfortably.  Size is also important because if it starts raining then you will all be cramped in the tent for however long, so it is important to make sure you will fit inside comfortably.  You also should think about whatever you will be storing inside as far as clothes and supplies. Next decide on what your budget can handle and keep in mind that you probably want the tent to last for many years to come so don’t be too cheap with it.  Remember too that you don’t need the most expensive tent of the bunch and if it is your first time you may not want a really expensive one in case you don’t like it!  Once you have those two things figured out it will be much easier to determine what you can afford and want.

I know if I ever decide to go camping with my family, if you know me then you know I hate camping, I would definitely try to borrow someone’s tent so we don’t waste money on something we may not use again.  My husband has family who camps frequently and I’m sure would lend us their tent.  Hopefully, though it would be a nice one so my camping experience isn’t ruined by a bad tent!
