Self Defense DVD

I have written about self defense before but I was just thinking about it as I read about a self defense DVD that is available.  Now I think that is a great idea because not everyone has time to go to a class somewhere, if there is even a class available in their area.  I know for me, I don’t have a lot of time to spend away from my kids during times when classes would be available, but a DVD that I could use after the kids are in bed or before they wake up would be more feasible for me.

Now I know I am just a stay at home mom who doesn’t really go anywhere, but I still think self defense is a good thing to know.  For example, a few weeks ago I went downtown (Chicago) for the Uncle Ben’s event, and I had to park in a parking garage across the street.  I had to walk to my car at 9:30 PM by myself, which I was parked on the third floor of the parking garage.  Yes it was lit up pretty good, but there was no workers or officers that I noticed and there are so many crazy and sick people out there that you never know what can happen.  I was fortunately safe but many women out there are not and even I am not saying having been taught self defense would have helped, it won’t hurt to learn.

I hope I don’t ever have to use it, but I do think I am going to look into some form of self defense.  Maybe there is a quick class in my area I can take, but with my husband in grad school one night a week and needing time for homework, it makes it hard to get out.
