ABOUT:

My Purple Toes is a creative children’s board book written for children between the ages of one and five that tells a story about a father’s experience navigating life with purple painted toenails. From mom to the kids to their dog, everyone reacts differently to dad’s purple toes showing their surprise, embarrassment, and even laughter.

Throughout the book, children can look for dad’s toes in various environments and also find a friendly frog with purple toes that hides on each page. In addition to entertaining, “My Purple Toes” teaches a simple, yet relevant lesson about the importance of acceptance, enjoying life and being different.

MY THOUGHTS:

First off how could you not laugh when you hear about a dad getting a pedicure and his toes painted purple!  “My Purple Toes” is a real experience the author had with his family and features fun illustrations on every page.  There is even a hidden frog you can find, which my son really likes to do!  Just reading how the dad got a pedicure and his toes painted purple is an adorable story of family bonding and teaching kids its okay to go outside the norm!  I like that the book is a heavy board book that will last the abuse from my boys reading and playing with it!  The book also has little statements where it asks you to count the toes or comment where they are, so it is also somewhat interactive with you and your children.  It is not too long but with the little questions throughout the book, it makes reading it and encourages conversations between parent and child.  Very cute and fun!

I also like a significant portion of the proceeds from the book benefits Soles4Souls.  It is a shoe charity that gives away free shoes to people in need.

BUY IT: Visit the My Purple Toes website to buy the book for $10.99 plus shipping.  You can also find it on Amazon (where you can also peek inside the book!)
