Terro Spider Killer & Ant Killer Review (& Giveaway Ends 12/15)

ABOUT:

It’s fall, that time of year when cool weather starts driving spiders, cockroaches, ants and other pests indoors.  Before the shrieks and yelps these unwanted visitors tend to bring along, halt them in their tracks with a few simple tips from TERRO (http://www.terro.com), the leading manufacturer of pest control products for consumers.

Create an Outdoor Ant Barrier

Since most ant infestations are linked to a colony that is actually located underground outside the house, Clark recommends applying TERRO Outdoor Ant Killer Granules around the entire perimeter of the house.  “The Outdoor Ant Killer Granules are packaged in an easy-to-apply Shaker Bag™ that allows the granules to be easily distributed in a three- to five-foot band around the typical house,” says Clark. No spreader is needed to apply.

Stop Spiders from Entering House

Terro Spider Killer is a crack and crevice aerosol contact spray that is highly effective against spiders, including brown recluses, black widows and hobo species, scorpions, cockroaches, crickets and other pests. “Because the product kills on contact, it immediately eases the dread of having a spider enter the home.  However, the spray has a residual control so it continues to stop pests from entering your home for up to 12 weeks,” says Clark.  An extension tube allows the user to choose between a directional “stream” for crack and crevice treatment, or a regular spray pattern.

MY THOUGHTS:

I hate bugs, anything that crawls and creeps around freaks me out.  Yes I know I am bigger than them but because they are so small and they can sneak around that is what gets me.  I make my husband spray for bugs practically monthly because we seem to get a lot of spiders in this house, and of course we have ants since we have kids!  (My boys leave crumbs everywhere so it is no wonder we have ants!)

A few months ago I got to try out the Terro Fruit Fly Traps and they worked quite well so I was excited to try more of their products.  The Terro Spider Killer is a spray that comes with a about four inch straw to spray in a neat line and in crevices.  It says it protects up to 12 weeks so I am excited to see if it works.  It also works on scorpions, ants, cockroaches, crickets and other insects.  I had my husband spray all the corners, baseboards, and crevices where I have typically seen spiders and bugs.  I will say though to be careful as this is harmful for pets and humans so keep that in mind when spraying it.  I don’t have any pets licking baseboards so I didn’t have to worry about it, but if you do have pets you obviously have to be cautious just as don’t spray bug spray near food surfaces.  It also does have a smell (reminds me of gasoline) but it fades quickly, and I was careful not to inhale it.

The Terro Ant Killer comes in a convenient shaker bag that you slide to open and then use the carrying handle to pour along the perimeter of your house.  I had my husband pour this around the foundation of our house but you can also use this as a spot treatment.  I will say though to put a good coat around your foundation, you would probably need an extra bag depending on your house size.  I haven’t seen any ants or silverfish, but I am anxious to see how well it works next summer, which is when I usually get ants.  You can apply it up to six times a year, and I suppose it would work as well as you apply and depending on whether conditions.
