I love giving gifts because it is always great to see the reaction on the persons face.  I try to buy gifts that the person wouldn’t typically buy for themselves and I always put thought into them.  Yes I am not perfect and give gift cards occasionally but I do make them gift cards that I know will get used and I try to include a coupon too for the store with the gift card!  It is little touches like adding a coupon with a gift card or attaching a cute ornament to a gift that I think can really make any gift special!

My best experience so far giving a gift was for our 1-year wedding anniversary; I got my husband an expensive Movado watch that I know he had been eyeing.  It was a little out of our budget but I knew I could make it work.  Now I had no clue what style he wanted so I did my best to pick one out and I was so nervous I don’t know how I kept it from him!  Now since he had his suspicions (he knows me too well) I bought a watchcase and tucked the watch inside.  I wrapped up the big watchcase which he was just expecting a little jewelry-type box.  He opened the watchcase and I explained that I hoped to fill it someday for him.  He then started opening up the drawers and found the watch.  I can still picture his face and how full of shock and happiness it was.  He had been working very hard right out of college and we got married soon after that I wanted him to have a special gift and one that he could wear with pride.  Now four years later he still wears that watch everyday and brags that his wife got it for him.  I think maybe I will hold off on getting him another fancy watch until our ten year anniversary now that we have two kids and a higher mortgage squeezed already in our budget!
