HP is one of my favorite Windows-based computer companies (yes I am a Mac person so I am picky with Windows computers.) For Christmas last year we purchased a relatively cheap desktop for my son to use and play his preschool games on. I didn’t want him messing with our Mac and I figure it would nice for him to have his own computer that we don’t have to worry he could do too much damage too!
So we have had that computer now for just over a year, but he just can’t get the hang of using the mouse. He wants to touch the screen like he would our iPod Touch! I thought about getting him a touch screen desktop but that is a little out of our budget right now! I also thought about a cheaper notebook computer for him because I am not sure if he would use the computer more if it was portable and upstairs (currently his computer is down in the basement.)
We did just recently pick up a printer for his computer so he can print out some coloring sheets and other activities, which seems to make him happy for the moment. I do want him to learn to use a regular desktop though since in school they won’t be touchscreen (or will they by the time he is in grade school?) For now I will hold off on a new desktop or notebook until we can save up some money and until our youngest is on the computer too.
