Any Disney World Tips for me?

We are heading off to Disney World next week and I wanted to see if anyone had any tips or suggestions for us?  Anything we should make sure we hit?  We went to Disney World last year but didn’t have much time and this year we will have both boys with us (2 and 4.)  I went to Disney World a few times when I was younger, but I know there are a lot of things I missed or maybe didn’t really how cool it is.

What is your favorite park or ride at Disney World?  Any favorite restaurants?  Any advice for visiting with a 2 and 4 year old?

  • We went in November 2010 with a 2 year old and a 4 year old and the best advice I can give you is 1) do not go with a set plan and 2) follow your kids' needs. Both my husband and I had done Disney before so there were no must-do rides or shows, so we did whatever the kids wanted to. When they started to get tired, we would take in a show which allowed them to rest, but also to enjoy something. We were fortunate that in November the lines were not bad at all, so we could ride many rides. However, as anal as I am, I also read one of those "Taking your preschooler to Disney" books and it offered a lot of great advice. They also offer map routes for busy times. Also, have a stroller available for BOTH kids, whether you take your own or rent. You WILL need one for EACH kid. We opted to take umbrella strollers as we did not just stay in Disney and it worked out great. They were lightweight, allowed us to confine the kids in the airports and were definitely a necessity as both kids would get tired of walking in the afternoons. Enjoy yourself and enjoy watching your kids enjoy Disney! Have fun!

  • I have heard that there is a great hidden mickey scavenger hunt and lots of other lil things like that I will be looking into before our next trip

  • Get the "Unofficial Guide to Disney World". type that in on amazon to find it. The Disneyland version was great. It talks about general park info (early morning admission etc, details and age recommendations for each ride, and even has some suggested ride order based on your group and lots of research at the park)

We modified one of their day plans (they have diff plans depending on how long you are going and the type of group you are) because we had little kids. If anyone in your group is a little girl check out if they have something like Ariel's Grotto in California Adventures. Sit down meal but 5 princesses visit the room during the meal and spend time at each table. Soooo much better than standing in line.

  • Oh and my famiy's fave place to eat is O'hana at THE Polynesian resort and the cinnamon rolls at the Main Street Bakery in the MK are to die for!! And the kids will love Playhouse Disney live and Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios1

  • I have lots of tips!! be there when the park opens is #1 and go back and take a mid afternoon nap then head back to the park in evenings! Trust me you will thank me for that! Go to the Laugh floor comedy club in the MK, it is a hidden treasure in my opinion. Be sure you ride Soarin and take advantage of the Fastpasses and parent swaps, since you have little ones! Be sure to ride Everest in the Animal Kingdom, your 4yr old might even like it, it is my 4y olds favorite ride. Be sure to watch the night time entertainment at Epcot and the magic Kingdom, the parade is awesome and just thinking about the fireworks makes my eyes water! Most of all, remember you are on vacation and have a great time!!!!

  • We won a trip to Disney in January. My boys are 4 & 6 and I stocked up on snacks to put in my bag. It kept the boys busy while waiting in line and it was cheaper than buying snacks there Also, we played a lot of ISpy in line.
Make sure that you get your Disney photo pass card from any of the photographers (and they will take the same picture with your camera).
My boys really liked Buzz Lightyear & the Racetrack at Magic Kingdom. Soaring and Test Track were favorites at Epcot.
    Enjoy your trip!

  • I have two boys now 8 and 9, we went to Disney when they were 5 and 6 the first time.

1)Don't think you will get to see all the rides...your kids are too young. Try and make sure they get on the special ones like Aladdin, Merry Go Round, and Mickey Toon Town.
2)Watch which way the crowds are moving and go the opposite direction.
    3) Download the Disney App for Line times for your smart phone. There is also an app for where the characters are located in each park. Characters are always in the Main Square in Magic Kingdom.
    4) Magic Kingdom was my kids favorite and then Studios. Toy Story Ride in Studios is worth the wait. So is the Little Mermaid Show. The Stunt Show is loud and my scare the kids.
    5) If you are staying on the Disney Property, take advantage of the early open hours.
    6) After a couple of hours, go back to the hotel and relax. Go Swimming if it is warm enough. Take a long nap and then go back for the parade and fireworks.
    7) Bring strollers for both boys, they will get tired of all the walking!
    8) I hope you have already made dinner reservations, especially character meals. If not, call each morning to see if there are any cancellations. The Crystal palace is great with all the Winny the Pooh characters.
    9) At Studios, there is a great playground call Honey I shrunk the kids. Worth the time to run off any extra kid energy.
    10) In studios, there is Magic of Animation. Your kids are too young to draw, BUT there is three areas to meet characters. Also a good place to go to wait out a rain shower.

Relax and just have fun...if you go trying to see everything, you will be stressed. The little things are the best. My son told me it was the best day of his life when he met Buzz Light year and Woody.
