Endless Fun for an Endless Summer at The Abbey Resort on Lake Geneva

New and favorite amenities are back for resort guests this vacation season

The Abbey Resort & Spa is historically one of the hottest destinations for summers on Lake Geneva, Wis. This year, the resort is pumping up the fun with new and favorite activities for guests to enjoy all season long, from the new zipline adventures to boating to seasonal activities for all ages.

New in town for “eco-adventurers” is the Lake Geneva Canopy Tours, a company that offers canopy tours in a beautifully wooded area on the Northwest part of Lake Geneva. Visitors literally can explore the woods with a bird’s eye view: traversing platforms in the trees, crossing wire rope sky bridges, climbing treetop staircases, and thrilling in the excitement of zip-lining. The Abbey provides transportation to and from the canopy tours for resort guests and the resort’s concierge desk will assist with scheduling the tours.

“After a day exploring woods or the iconic Lake Geneva community, guests may just want to hang out at the resort as we have countless activities for families, couples and friends to enjoy on a hot summer day,” said David Lindelow, general manager of The Abbey Resort & Spa. “You name it: scavenger hunts, indoor and outdoor pools, nightly bonfires with s’mores and an arcade full of popular video games. The Abbey’s harbor offers a variety of boating and lake activities including boat rentals, waterskiing and wave running.”

Burnin’ Down the Docks: Roll up your sleeves and dig into award-winning barbecue. Burnin’ Down the Docks returns Sunday, May 15 as the weekly celebration of blues, brews and barbecue at The Abbey Resort. Starting at noon every Sunday, enjoy live blues music on the outdoor patio, weekly drink specials and mouth-watering barbecue fare from The Abbey’s Pit Master, Matthew Whiteford. As an acclaimed barbecue connoisseur and owner of LOVE YOUR BBQ, Whiteford is a Jim Beam Sponsored National Competition BBQ Cook and certified judge with the Kansas City Barbeque Society. Guests can sample the award-winning ribs for just $5 and wash it down with $2 Leinenkugels.

Boat Right Up! Back by popular demand is The Abbey’s marina services team. As the only full-service resort on the lakeshore, The Abbey has boat slips for overnight use so resort guests can keep their boat in the water during their stay. For both guests and local boaters, The Abbey is easily accessible to other water activities near the resort’s harbor, including rental boats, water skiing, ski school, parasailing and wave running. The slips will accommodate boats ranging from 8.5 feet wide and up to 44 feet long with the cost to rent a slip at $75 per night, which includes ramp/launch usage, 110V power, water, Wi-Fi Internet access and boat trailer parking.

Flick ‘n Float: Guests can watch movies while floating in The Abbey’s pool, takes place every Tuesday and Friday night starting between 8 – 9 p.m., depending on when the sun goes down. Flick ‘n Float is complimentary to all guests and the featured films start with a kid-friendly flick followed by another popular film later in the evening for more mature audiences.

A Touch of Romance: Babysitting services are available at The Abbey for parents looking to escape for a date night. Parents can enjoy a romantic dinner in the upscale Fontana Grill plus the Waterfront Restaurant and Grill features live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Babysitting services require reservations in advance of the visit.

Hit the Path: Enjoy a lake walk around the 22-mile glistening shores of Geneva Lake that’s lined with mansions from renowned families, including the Wrigley’s and the Driehaus Estate. Guests can start just steps from The Abbey’s harbor and enjoy the entire scenic walk or stop in downtown Lake Geneva to visit the one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants. For walkers choosing a shorter trek, The Abbey offers a complimentary shuttle pickup from the bustling downtown area.
