Now that I am getting closer to having this baby (due in July) I am getting bombarded with baby information and mail. Everyday it seems like I get something in the actual postal mail or my email regarding “our new bundle of joy.” One area that I have received a few emails about is about banking our baby’s cord blood form www.Cryo-Cell.com. I never really thought about it with our first two babies but I admit I have considered it with this baby. It is a big expense and something that we may or may not need in the future, but definitely something to think about. Maybe someday it will be cheaper or free, but I have a feeling that is a long way off!
Cord banking is a somewhat controversial topic because it involves science; however, researchers are finding more solutions everyday to preserve stem cells in a noncontroversial way. So far I read that more than 230,000 people worldwide have preserved their newborn’s umbilical cord blood (for potential use against many diseases) since 1992.
Right now www.Cryo-Cell.net is offering a Free BellyBag, information packet and consul with an advisor. I admit I probably won’t do it because of money reasons but I did want to mention it since I have been thinking about it and others may want to know!
