I have an almost 3 (in about 2 weeks) and 4 year old, both boys, who I have been desperately trying to potty train before the baby comes in July. I know I have heard stories of kids regressing, but I had to try. My 4 year old has been peeing pretty good on the potty for about a year now. He won’t poop still on the potty but he is at least finally letting me know right away so I can change him, before he would hide and fight me when I tried to change him. So I think I am making some new progress with Aidan finally!
About 2 weeks ago my 2 year old (soon to be 3) decided he wanted to start going on the potty. I had decided not to push him because I think I pushed Aidan and that didn’t work out how I wanted it too. So when Gavin started showing interest in the potty I let him use the potty chair in the family room for a week then moved it into the bathroom. He had a few leaks in his underwear but quickly ran to the bathroom to finish. I also decided with Gavin I would use underwear instead of Pull-Ups right off the bat, I did the opposite for Aidan.
So far Gavin has had only a few accidents, and is even going poop on the potty all by himself! I haven’t had to bribe him or beg him to do it, he just does it and acts like it was no big deal!
I am amazed at how much my little guy has grown and I think having the younger pooping on the potty is pushing my older son to re-consider it. I just don’t want to have 3 kids in diapers come July and it would be nice to have at least one in strictly underwear – right now we are doing Pull-Ups if we go to the store or something just in case. So far though so good, in the stores and restaurants we have gone too both boys have used the public restroom just fine. I finally feel like I have #CrushedIt and made big potty training progress with both boys. It is amazing to me how big my boys are getting and how I am surviving potty training while being 8 months pregnant.
Is there anything you have “crushed lately?” In honor of the new Chiquita crushed fruit snack products which has been promoted all over Chicagoland so far, I was able to find a great selection of them over at my local Dominick’s. You can check out my shopping trip below:
I also want to give a shout out to my neighbor who has totally #CrushedIt when her 4 year old daughter had surgery two weeks ago to have her tonsils removed, tubes put in her ears, and something with her nose. Reagan was home for a week to recover and Julie had to work full-time from home, but survived! Then the following week her 2 year old got an infection and fever and was home for almost a week to recover! Their house is now all recovered (knock on wood) and I figured the best present would be a basket of these yummy Chiquita crushed fruit snack products. They are a healthy reward that tastes delicious, perfect for kids and adults! I hope they will enjoy them as much as my family has!

@Paula - Gavin did that for the longest time, it was so funny!
Awesome on the PT! David is starting to get interested, but when I put him on the toilet he grunts, farts and says "all done!"
Way to go on potty training! I'm still working on it with my *just* turned three year old.
What a great gift to your neighbor, too! I like how you put them in the little basket :)
