“Geek is Chic”

Back when I was in high school it was all the popular people who everyone drooled after, but nowadays “geek is chic.”  The show “The Big Bang Theory” explores how even those with “beautiful minds” can get the girl.  I admit I didn’t get into the show right away because I didn’t really get it, but after giving the show a shot I got hooked.  It makes me laugh how well the actors play their parts and they show its okay to be socially awkward.  I do always think of “David” from the tv show Roseanne, when I see Johnny Galecki and he was even socially awkward back then!

I do see more couples where one person is really beautiful and the other is not what I would expect.  Opposites do attract and finally society seems to be accepting people for more than just their appearance.  “The Big Bang Theory” is a great show to watch and unwind to It also shows how smart people have feelings too and its okay to be yourself!  Its funny because when I was in high school, I always went for the quiet, awkward guys or “emo” as we called them.  I am a totally outgoing person and nothing special academics-wise and yet I went for the smart, dorky (and usually scrawny) guys!
