Zeiss Better Vision Educational Tools

I still remember my first pair of eyeglasses, I was in 7th grade and I thought it was cool to wear glasses.  Luckily my vision was not too bad that I really didn’t need glasses but of course over the years my vision has gotten worse.  Since we don’t have vision insurance I usually go to a vision center like in Walmart or the mall, never an actual eye doctor’s office.  I feel like there is a lot I am clueless about as far as my eyes go and I don’t even know what questions I should ask.

Zeiss lenses has created some educational tools to help eyeglass wearers better understand their vision correction needs, make the most of their next eye exam, and receive the best lenses for sharp vision.  I am so grateful for this site now because I am due for an eye exam and I feel more confident going now.

Zeiss Educational tools cover four topics:

  • Facts to know about vision and lenses
  • Tips for selecting an eye doctor
  • Questions to ask at your next eye appointment
  • Facts to know about age-related vision changes

What I first noticed is how simple the website is.  Some websites have great information but they are so cluttered that they are hard to navigate.  There are so many great resources to explore on the site all involving eyewear and eye care.

Did you know that children should have eye exams at ages six months, three years and when beginning school?  Or that adults should have eye exams every two years and then annually at age 40 as eyes start to experience natural age-related vision changes?  Eyes are an important organ and since each eye is as unique as a fingerprint, it requires a customized visual analysis by an eye doctor.

The process goes:

  • Individual sight situation (basically a consult with the doctor)
  • Precise eye measurement
  • Subjective eye test (visual acuity, spatial perception and teamwork of your eyes)
  • Exact fitting
  • Personal lens solution

Not all lenses are created equal either.  Carl Zeiss Vision is a company that manufactures customized precision lenses.  Zeiss individual is the first progressive lens to integrate how your frames, face and prescription work together for a one-of-a-kind lens personalized for the wearer.  The ZEISS technology is clinically proven to be preferred by consumers over conventional progressive lenses to improve vision and quality of eyesight.

Before picking out eyeglasses you should also think about the different coating options so you are not caught off guard when trying to pick out a pair!  There are six different coating options and even different lenses to consider.  The right lenses and coating options depend too on your lifestyle or work.  It is also depends on age too as your vision changes as you get older.  I honestly had no clue how much was involved in eye care.
