Clorox Clean-Up Recipes for Fun & Ultimate Mess Party Contest! #RecipesForFun

I had said it before, but I am far from a crafty mom. Don’t get me wrong I love crafts, but my boys just never showed interest so I never bothered. Now that they are 3 and 5 years old though, and both in preschool, they are starting to like to do activities with their hands. While I would love now to be able to sit down with them and make craft after craft I just don’t have the brain and time for it now that we have a crawling baby in the house. There are so many amazing craft ideas out there but they also usually require supplies I don’t have on hand. The other issue I have with crafts is the whole clean-up afterwards.

Clorox has not only created a website full of Recipes for Fun but they are also featuring the Ultimate Mess Party contest. The “Recipes” are broken down into four categories: Wacky Science, Arts & Crafts, Kiddie Cooking and Creative Cooking. There are literally pages and pages of activities with full instructions and a clean up tip. There is also a spot to leave comments which I like because I like to see if others have tried something or their suggestions.

One craft I found on Clorox Recipes for Fun was super easy and I actually had the supplies on hand!

Ice Paints:

Ingredients For Fun:

Toothpicks
Ice cube tray
Food coloring or powdered dyes
Water
Paper to paint on

How To Make It:

The night before your project, fill the ice cube tray with the colored water and place in freezer.
Wait 2 to 3 hours before checking to see if a thin film of ice has formed over cubes. If it has, gently stick toothpicks into middle of cubes.
Wait overnight or until cubes are completely frozen before removing your miniature paint block with the toothpick acting as a handle.
As your child “paints” with their block on their paper (or sidewalk), the water slowly melts and the paint block disappears.

One craft I came up with for Arts & Crafts is actually one I remember seeing on Pinterest but it needs fine tuning. (Sorry it doesn’t really have a name other than Mess-Free finger painting.)

Ingredients:

Paint
Tape
Ziploc bag
White Paper

You just squirt the paint into the Ziploc bag, tape the bag over a sheet of paper and have mess free painting fun. I taped the white paper into a plastic tray, but you could easily tape it directly onto a table or in a cookie sheet! My problem though was I used Acrylic paint which was too thick that it didn’t really move around well. Next time I will use a tempera paint or maybe add some water.

The recipes are all pretty basic and easy to follow for moms and kids to work on together. I do wish there were pictures on the recipe pages but they are easy so I’ll take what I can get!
