Walmart has just announced that more than $9.5 million in grants has been given to national organizations that are helping families achieve healthy living habits. The funding will support nutrition’s education programs, provide classes focused on learning to cook and shop for healthier foods on a budget. There will also be live cooking demonstrations through communities nationwide. To help out Walmart’s efforts, Dr. Ro (Rovenia M. Brock Ph. D. who has appeared on Dr. Oz, The View and more) will be sharing healthy steps people can take to learn how to eat healthy on a budget.
I think this is a great effort coming from Walmart because they are thrown into so many communities and the grocery store is a perfect spot to help with healthy eating! I have never heard of community support in healthy eating and I know so many families could benefit from extra knowledge and guidance in the right direction. In my house this year we are already eating out less and eating less junk food in general. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up so we can play outside (and exercise) as a family! I know my main problem is healthy food usually costs more so I end up buying the cheaper and less-healthy items. I am curious to learn about eating healthy on a budget!
Is there anything you are doing to make healthier choices for yourself or others in your community?
