I seem to be getting more rebates and gifts in general in the form of those Visa/Mastercard/American Express Gift Cards. Whether it be $5 or $25 (or hopefully more) I have a love-hate relationship with them. You can’t use them at the gas station because they can’t per-authorize on them and if I don’t use the whole amount in one purchase then I have a weird amount left on them that I have to remember. For example, a $25 Visa gift card that I used has $2.11 left, now the next time I go to use I have to say to only charge $2.11 on it and pay with something else for the difference.
Pain-In-The-Butt!
But then again I am grateful because it is money after all!
If you are an Amazon.com shopper then you can use all those small gift cards (or the big ones too) to buy Amazon gift cards that you email yourself. Then you redeem them by saving them into your Amazon account. So one night I found three random VISA gift cards with small balances on them so I bought three separate Amazon gift cards for those amounts. I then saved them into my account and have money saved ready to be redeemed for my next Amazon purchase! The minimum for an Amazon gift card is $1.

thanks! I just did this for one that had $1.20 on it. I order amazon ALL the time. that card has been sitting there for months. i have another, but it has $50 on it right now. I'll buy an amazon gift card when it gets down to a few bucks. excellent!

Great tip! I am going to try it right now. I have a stack of $2 - $8 Gift cards. Hope it works. In the past I have thrown cards away if they had less than $5 left.
I have thrown them away too! I have had no problem buying the gift cards for any amount I needed, even for $1 !
