I am often blocked when writing posts about my family, I mean there is so much to tell yet it can be hard to put into words. A few weeks ago we got back from Disney World, which I was there for a blogger conference and then we made it a family vacation. The one thing though that sticks in my head was one of the speakers saying “You only have 18 summers.” Then I started thinking though is how while on vacation I spend pretty much uninterrupted time with them, but then as soon as we get home life happens. My husband goes back to work, kids go to school and I tackle the house, my blog and our 10-month-old baby girl.
Since we got back I have slowly started incorporating more quality family time. I cuddle more with the kids, we are reading more books (not just at bed time), sitting down at the table for dinner and playing outside. I admit it is easy to get sucked into “life” but I don’t want those “18 summers” to go by and realize I spent most of them on the computer.
Brica is a company who makes products for families and their motto is “Making Together Better.” It is all about hugs, steps, journeys, laughter and being a family! I love that motto as it embodies so much about growing up and sharing memories. As a reminder, I wrote that motto on a post-it by my computer to remind me to get off my butt and seize the day with my kids. My oldest is 5 years old already and will be starting kindergarten this August, and soon he will be busy with school, friends, and sports. I feel too that sometimes I take my kids for granted and forgot how fragile they are. My 5 year old had open heart surgery as a baby and will need another one and my 3 year old has severe asthma attacks. My baby girl is my angel and as happy and healthy as I could have hoped.
I grew up in a family of five kids and while we were close, we never really had family time at home. I am trying so hard to change my ways and keep my work separate from family. I think though being a mom means you make decisions that are hard all the time and put your family first. I want to not just be my kids mom, but I want to be a great mom that they can look up to.
As far as conferences go, I only go to about two conferences a year. One conference I have never been to is Type-A-Parent. I have heard so many amazing things about it but something always seems to come up (yes life again…) and I miss it. I think too I feel like I may not be good enough as it seems as if the people that attend are all amazing women (and some men I’m sure) that I could really learn so much from. I would love to meet some of those amazing bloggers and companies, like Brica. I feel like there is always something to learn from experiences and Type-A would be an amazing one for me!

I completely agree, it's hard to not get sucked into life sometimes... but those 18 summers are going to fly by!
Thanks! Yes makes me want to make the most of our time, especially when the kids have school and summers are their only really time off.
Type-A is my favorite conference of them all and well worth attending!
So would you choose Type-A over Blissdom? I am thinking next year of expanding my conferences, what is the differences in them?
