What Are Your “Bad” Words?

So my boys are 3 and 5 so their vocabulary is not too big yet, but it is getting there.  They both go to preschool and take the bus, which they are bringing home little songs and words that I’d rather them not.  Like one about pulling their fingers to watch a toilet flush?

Some words though that they have picked up, whether from school, tv, friends, or adults, are words I don’t find appropriate for them.  Now I am not talking about the obvious swear words, but everyday words that kids will surely repeat in the wrong context or tone.  Words like “Stupid” and “Shut Up” are two words I find myself really irked by and immediately told my boys those were “bad” words.  They are words they don’t understand and don’t need to use.  Sometimes I’d rather them use a swear word than call someone “stupid”, if that makes sense.

What are some words that are “bad” words in your house?

  • Makes total sense. A weird word that made it to our "list" is fartknocker. The kids and their cousins were using it so much it got on my nerves so I threatened. "If I hear that 1 more time it goes on the list." They didn't believe me lol.
