K’NEX Tinkertoy Vehicles Building Set

K’NEX is a brand whose goal is to inspire creativity, build self-confidence and encourage interaction among children and parents. Their products include building sets including Lincoln Logs, Sesame Street, Mario Kart Wii, Nascar, and Monster Jam!

Tinkertoy is another brand that K’NEX carries that I grew up with and now my own children play with.  The other great thing about Tinkertoy is that they are constantly creating new sets for new fun and new generations.

The first great thing about this set is it comes in a nice and durable box to store all the pieces back in.  I am all about keeping pieces together and love that this box doubles as a storage container.  It actually is big enough too to store other Tinkertoys you may have.  So back to the pieces.  Well once you open the set you get a a total of 150 pieces with colorful instructions with pictures, no words.

I had no problem following the pictures to start building and my boys (4 and 5) were even faster and more creative!  The set comes with enough pieces to build 15 objects from their instructions and then of course whatever your can imagine.  What makes Tinkertoys different though is they are not regular building blocks but rather all sorts of pieces that fit together.  You have more flexibility with your creations with the various Tinkertoy pieces.  The pieces include both wooden and plastic pieces, with wooden bringing me back to my childhood.  It is a great set for any child who loves to build, with this set specifically geared to vehicles.

Overall, we had a blast with this new set and it amazes me each time my boys show me one of their creations.  They especially love the wheels in this set.
