“You Want Me to Give My Kid Gum?” {Review}

I always thought of gum as something I’d never let my kids have.  I just never saw the point for them to have it.  Then my son’s speech teacher recommend it to help strengthen my son’s mouth muscles.  I went along with it but was still leery of giving it to him since obviously I couldn’t just sit there and watch him chew it the whole time.

Now there is another reason I give my son gum – to protect his teeth between brushings.  Yeah I know what your thinking, how is gum helpful for teeth?  Well Orbit for Kids (yes specifically for Kids) is a Sugarfree Gum that cleans the mouth of food leftovers and stimulates saliva flow.  Saliva then helps to protect teeth by reducing plaque acids and strengthening teeth!  Now of course I didn’t explain all this to my son or he’d want to chew gum all day every day, but I do let him have it as a treat and secretly smile that its working its magic on his teeth without him knowing it.

What does my son love about Orbit for Kids?  Well first off he loves that he gets gum just like mommy and next he loves the Strawberry Banana flavor (its also available in Original Bubble Gum.)  I had to try it too and it tastes yummy!  So now we start off the day with brushing our teeth, hopefully flossing and mouthwash (as long as he brushes his teeth I’ll take what else I can get) and then chewing 1-2 pieces of gum throughout the day and repeat brushing at bedtime.

Overall, I will be buying Orbit for Kids for my family.  It is a gum that all of us enjoy and the flavor rocks!
