Popar 3D Puzzles With Augmented Reality {Review}

Disclosure: I received this product to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

I remember when I was younger doing this cheap cardboard puzzles over and over.  Nowadays kids have so much available to them that plan ole’ cardboard puzzles just won’t cut it.  Kids want a challenge and something that is techie is a plus too.  While my kids play puzzle games on the iPad now, never did I think of combining the fun of puzzle with a smartphone or tablet.  Well Popar Toys has taken on that challenge and created new Interactive Puzzle Games that allow kids to not only build the puzzles (like the old days) but then use a smartphone or tablet to make the puzzle interactive.

The Popar 3D Puzzles With Augmented Reality available are:

  • Basketball
  • Football
  • Soccer
  • Construction
  • Picnic
  • Planets
  • Princess

With seven styles available (for ages 6 and up) there is one for everyone.  The puzzles range in sizes from 100 to 300 pieces.  So once your child builds the puzzle they can continue the fun by loading an app to interact with the puzzle.  For example, a princess will spring to life and dance, wave, and twirl on the puzzle top via 3D.  Your child can also then customize the princess’s appearance, save her and change the background effects.  Having boys though I knew I had to get them the Soccer and Construction puzzles.  Both puzzles include all the pieces to build a decent size puzzle and a poster.

At first my boys were kinda like “Puzzles?”  Then when I told them they can interact with their puzzles they couldn’t build the puzzles fast enough!  We received two puzzles to check out:  Soccer and Construction.

I will say the Soccer one was smaller pieces and my boys couldn’t do it alone, my husband and I basically did it but they had a blast playing the soccer game after the puzzle was done.  By aiming your iPad over the puzzle a soccer field and ball pops up and you can play soccer!

The Construction Puzzle on the other hand, my 5 year old did a lot of it by himself.  The pieces were bigger and it wasn’t as complex of a design as the soccer (the sky and grass was tough in the Soccer puzzle.)  The Construction Puzzle has different trucks your kid can explore.  It took us a little bit to get this one to work but it was pretty neat to see the trucks pop up and make noises.
