Did you know that last year 50,000 patients and caregivers were provided with lodging? Those patients and caregivers were given a place to stay when the best treatment is far from their home. They believe a room shouldn’t be the difference between life and death.
I know for my family, while it wasn’t cancer my son had to have heart surgery as a baby and we were fortunate to receive free lodging nearby the hospital. At the time of need for a health problem, lodging should be the least of your worries. From the expense to figuring out where to stay, patients and caregivers have enough to worry about.
Jeri Ryan, from Star Trek Voyager, has joined the fight to help promote the need for help for the American Cancer Society. By just sending a simple text from your phone you can donate $10 which could really make a difference for someone. I always say “Every little bit helps” and it really does. She is actually just one of the celebrities that has joined the campaign.
There are so many people affected by cancer today, whether it be a friend, family member or someone from their past, cancer seems to sneak up on everywhere. It is a disease that is not prejudice and comes in so many forms. It is also a disease that can literally take over not just the person’s life it has affected but those around that person.
Help join the American Cancer Society and make some noise to finish the fight against cancer!
