Android App Review: “GS Preschool Games”

GS Preschool Games (Android and iTunes)

Updated: December 21, 2013

A beautiful app, designed for kids in the age range 3-6, to foster their learning, imagination and free play. It includes 9 thoughtfully designed fun games, containing very colourful and attractive images/sounds. Kids enjoy playing these games for hours without getting bored, and at the same time learning skills, which are carefully incorporated in the design of each game.

What makes this app special is that so many different types of games are present in a single place, which are normally found in separate different apps.

Following is the list of games sections:

  • Match the Shadows
  • Jigsaw puzzles
  • Count the Objects
  • Solve the Maze
  • Memory games
  • Find odd items
  • Balloon quizzes
  • Scratch Paint
  • Compare Objects

In addition to each individual game section, there is a common ‘playground’ where kid will be presented with a mix of games from all sections. If kid is interested more in some types of games, he/she can skip the ones he/she doesn’t want.

To keep kids challenged, points are awarded for each game stage completed. A scoreboard is maintained which kid can see after each game. When kid scores enough points, he/she earns a sticker of his/her choice. All his/her earned stickers are kept in a box which he/she can relish any time they want later.

I checked out the Android version of GS Preschool Games (there is also an iTunes version) and the game is pretty awesome for young kids.  There are so many different activities in the app that it covers so much information for preschoolers.  From memory matching to counting to letter recognition to what items don’t belong.  It is an app that while there are easy games there are also ones that make kids have to think.  We have tried a lot of free apps for my kids and this one really is a good one.

After completing each game, it tells your child the following things:

  • A positive word such as Phenomenal or Excellent
  • Shows how many stars out of 4 they received
  • Quiz Score
  • Time in seconds it took to complete
  • Earned stickers – which your child gets to pick

The games are very easy to navigate and a child’s voice reads the directions to each game.  The games are colorful and bright, very kid friendly.  I also found that the games don’t repeat themselves right away, there really are a lot of games within this app to play.  My kids all played with this from ages 2 to 6 years old.  I do want to add too that since this is a free app there are ads that pop up on the top of the game.

BUY IT: You can download GS Preschool Games from the Google Play Store or iTunes.
