HEXBUG V2 Nano Black Hole {Review}

Disclosure:  I received this product to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

My boys have loved HEXBUGS since we first got them back in 2010 and it is amazing how far they have come since them.  Now there are ones that swim and ones that climb walls!  I got the chance to check out the new Hexbug Nano v2 Black Hole set with my boys and they couldn’t set it up fast enough!

HEXBUG V2 Nano Black Hole

The Black Hole enables Nano V2 super-fans to customize the design and layout of the three-story set, unleashing kids’ creativity.

  • Customize the design and layout of the three-level expansive set
  • Features a spiral tube accessory for the Nano V2 to climb through as it explores its environment
  • Includes a crow’s nest for a more expansive view from the tallest point of the set
  • Nano V2 can free fall from one of the tubes through the black funnel, emerging out of one of three exits
  • Control the flow of traffic by filling the attachment points on the two HEX cell bases with accessories such as fixed pegs and rotating flags
  • Contains:
    • 2 Nano V2 bugs (one button cell battery AG13 (LR44) is included with each bug)
    • 1 spiral tube
    • 1 crow’s nest
    • 1 funnel
    • 2 straight tubes
    • 9 curved tubes
    • 3 curved Y tubes
    • 20 connectors
    • 6 stand-offs
    • 2 HEX cell bases plus removable walls & gates
    • 4 curved tracks
    • 8 fixed pegs
    • 4 rotating flags

Setting up the set was pretty easy for my boys and my 5 year old did it all by himself from following the picture on the box.  Now they are familiar with HEXBUGs so that did help with them knowing how to snap everything together, but I don’t think it is that difficult though to assemble even for beginners.  Setting up the HEXBUG Nano V2 Black Hole set is half the fun!

Once the set is up, you just let the HEXBUGs go!  These new HEXBUGs have extra antenna on the top that allow them to climb and maneuver through the tubes.  We didn’t have any trouble having the bugs climb.  And yes old HEXBUGs will work on the set but they just won’t climb.  There are plenty of pieces to build a pretty big set and you can connect this set to both old and new sets.  The only problem you may have is storage as this set can be pretty big once assembled, but its not that hard to take apart and re-build at another time.  We didn’t save the box, but rather store all the pieces in a big plastic tub.  This is a great set for any child whether they are starting out with HEXBUGs or adding to their collection.

BUY IT:  The Hexbug Nano v2 Black Hole can be purchased on Amazon or direct through the HEXBUG website.
