Today I saw a funny picture on Facebook that was a woman applying for a job and said “One vacation day a year?” and the employer said “Yes we call it Mother’s Day but really its still work!” I laughed so hard at that because really it is work! From coordinating for my mom and my mother-in-law, I don’t really get a break. I’m not complaining as I love my family, but I do admit to loving those minutes throughout the day that I get to myself! As a stay at home mom I am with my kids pretty much 365 days a year 24/7…and yes with three of them I do have one of them waking me up in the middle of the night with a bad dream, illness or just can’t sleep, often enough.
The days though that they were teeny tiny babies and needed me every few hours to feed them and change them, I loved. I never minded getting up all night with them, although yes since I’m home I could always try to nap during the day with them. I loved the one on one time I got with them and how they were so dependent on me! Now of course my babies are independent little humans! All those sleepless nights were worth it though and I part of me is jealous that those days are over for me. I know how hard it is for new moms and I do try to support my friends and family when they have their new bundles of joy, which they will probably appreciate more when they get some help.
