Tomodachi Life—that’s what—and it’s exactly the type of crazy that memories are made of! Give Mii characters items, voices, and personalities, then watch as they rap, rock, eat donuts, fall in love, get denied, and have little Mii babies. Wait…WHAT?!

Create Mii characters, customize their voice and personality, dress them up, and decorate their apartments. Then watch as they come to life! They hang out, play concerts, engage in rap battles, hook up matchmaker-style, and even partake in cool games like Tomodachi Quest, a mini-RPG adventure. And when something really epic happens, take a picture and share it over Nintendo Image Share.* Or, send a baby Mii on a journey into your friend’s game with the StreetPass feature. First off this is not your average game.  There are no bad guys or hard levels to beat, but rather its a game where your little Mii characters are living their lives.  It is like The Sims meets Animal Crossing, if that makes sense.  You can really do so much with this game that I know I haven’t even explored everything the game has to offer.

First you create your Mii character from scratch or re-create them from a photo (that is pretty cool.)  You can also of course import any Mii characters you already have into the game.  Want a celebrity in your game?  Not a problem!  You can get more Miis from the game’s official website.  You can customize everything about your Mii from their hair style and color down to the pitch of their voice!  Yes they have voices with actual words!  No more jibberish!  The Mii characters then go off and live their lives on the island, but thats not the end.  You need to monitor them to make sure everyone is happy and you don’t want to miss anything crazy going on!  The interactions can be pretty surprising and hysterical!

My kids loved creating their characters and watching them explore the island.  I love that I didn’t have to worry about violence or struggling to complete missions.  There are little somewhat missions to complete but they are not hard and not required.  The player is basically there to intervene if there are Miis not getting along or if they need something (food, clothing, medicine, i.e…)  I admit too I love watching to see what the Miis are up to and whether they like the stuff we gave them.

Tomodachi Life is a game that is really hard to explain because its so unlike other games, but it is definitely a unique one to check out.  There is some reading required in the game, but other than that it is pretty self explanatory.  It is rated “E” for Everyone.
